Frequently Asked Questions
What is homeopathy?
Homeopathy is based on the concept that like cures like — that is, a substance that causes symptoms in a healthy person can cure similar symptoms in an unhealthy person. Like other holistic systems, homeopathy involves the use of remedies that stimulate your body’s own defenses, so your body itself is the main force in the curative process.
I practice classical homeopathy. You will receive a single remedy based on your unique nature, including the symptoms you want to cure. The treatment is non-invasive, and generally without side effects.
What are the benefits of homeopathy?
Over my decades of homeopathic practice, it has been my honor and my joy to witness the changes in my patients’ health. For some, homeopathy lifted the weight of a chronic illness. For others, a homeopathic remedy cured an acute condition quickly, without side effects.
Here are just a few of the benefits my clients have experienced:
· ear infections that cleared up and did not return
· fewer colds and flus
· life long allergies disappeared
· chronic colitis symptoms ended
· relief feelings of anxiety and stress without drugs
· tasks that seemed impossible to them became easy and manageable
What is the cost for homeopathic treatment?
Your initial visit will be 2 hours long for a fee of $350. After this, the follow-up visits are usually one hour and cost $175 for the first member of your family. I offer a 10% discount when I treat additional members of the same family.
We will schedule visits every four to six weeks until we are certain we have the correct remedy. After that, you can consult me as needed. I usually see my clients two to three times a year.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you must cancel 24 hours or more before a visit and re-schedule within the week, there is no charge. If you cancel less than 24 hours before an appointment, you will be charged 50% of the visit charge.
What should I expect when I take a remedy?
You may notice a reduction in your symptoms and an improvement in your energy and attitude within the first hours or days after taking a homeopathic remedy. Or you may notice a period of lowered energy, or even a brief flare-up of already existing symptoms. This is usually a sign that the remedy is working, and should only last for a few days.
On rare occasions, you might experience a symptom that you have never had before, Other times the remedy might initially relieve some symptoms, but then the symptoms will return. In either of these cases, it is important to call me so I can adjust your dosage or change your remedy.
Within a few weeks to a few months, most people will notice a clear decrease in symptoms and a gain in energy, mental clarity, and emotional well-being. These are the signs of a deep and long-lasting return to health.
How do I take the remedy?
When you get your bottle of homeopathic medication, I will give you specific directions on how many pellets and how often to take them.
In order to open the bottle, slide your fingernail around the bottom of the cap where there is a perforation, this will break the tamper-proof seal. Unscrew the cap and pour the designated number of pellets, usually 3-10, into the cap.
Try not to touch the pellets. If you get too many in the cap, pour them back into the bottle until you have the correct amount.
Pour the remedy directly onto or under your tongue and let them dissolve. Do not eat or drink anything for about 10 minutes before and after each dose.
What should I avoid after taking a remedy?
To make sure your remedy is able to work most effectively, it’s important to avoid a few things that can antidote homeopathy. An antidote is something that cancels out a remedy, rendering it ineffective.
Camphor products like Vick's, Tiger Balm, and White Flower Essence, as well as many liniments and Swedish Bitters, can antidote homeopathic remedies. Herbal infusions such as Tea Tree Oil, Pau D'arco, and strong eucalyptus and menthol preparations can also be a problem, especially if used in the first weeks after taking your remedy. Please do not take these internally or apply them to your skin while taking a homeopathic remedy.
Dental work with drilling can also antidote to homeopathic remedies, so let me know if you have a dentist visit planned when we meet.
How long do I need to avoid the substances that interfere with homeopathic treatment?
It is most important to avoid camphor products and dental work with drilling for during the first four to six weeks after taking the initial dose of the homeopathic remedy. This will give the remedy the best chance of stimulating your body to do its healing work.
When should I call you between visits?
Communication is very important in the healing process.
Please do not hesitate to call or email me with any questions you might have, or if you become concerned about any changes in your condition. Sometimes we may need to change dosages or strengths of the remedy or switch to a different remedy.
Call me if you or your child is suffering from an acute illness. Homeopathy is great for almost any acute illness, including coughs, colds, diarrhea, flu, ear infections, sinus infections, allergic reactions like hives, and many others. A remedy can relieve symptoms within hours much more gently than regular medications. You can also take a remedy in conjunction with Western medication to speed up your healing process.
