This is the thesis I wrote about Florence Ward, MD, as part of my graduation requirements at Mills College in 2004. I’ve begun to research and write in a broader context about this remarkable homeopath, who was the first woman surgeon in San Francisco and built and managed a 50-bed hospital at the corner of Bush and Hyde.
